Episode 27 – Unsound Methods

Episode 27 – Unsound Methods (right click to download)

It’s been a year last week since SATAN MADE ME DO IT are, well… doing it.

How has it come to this? When we started this we thought having the motivation to do it for a year would be a bold enough goal. Week in, week out inflicting as much pain and pleasure as sonically possible by giving you the metal that deserves to be listened to. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. And we knew it was not going to be easy.

SATAN MADE ME DO IT is a challenge. To you first and foremost, dear minion. Not everyone can deal with it. Only some of you will come back. Just a few will “share” it and “like” it. We understand. Take this episode, for instance: it’s a collection of some of the most twisted, rawest, sickest, defying, ear splitting and mental health disregarding songs ever produced by some of the vilest human beings on earth.

So why? Why keep on doing it? Well, because we like it. Because Satan is down there listening, saying us to do it, judging us. So we will keep doing it. Some say our methods are unsound. We say we don’t have a method at all, sirs. So again we say: PLAY IT LOUD!

Episode 26 – Carnivorous Flowers

Episode 26 – Carnivorous Flowers (right click to download)

Our ears are still buzzing from two weeks ago. That’s noise for you. But we decided NOT to take the feet off the pedal. We just basically changed the guitar tone to something a little extra… fuzzy. There are actually a lot of things at play here, more prominently doom stuff, so you’ll find plenty to like if you been going to just some of the many psych fests being unleashed throughout the civilized world. So, not the Pagan Altar/Witchfinder General type of doom. This time we mingled with the slow pace, the thorny and the poisonous.

One other thing: it’s mostly newish stuff, meaning there is a good chance you’ll get in touch with fresh and exciting music to sink your teeth into.

Music never disappoints! Support SATAN MADE ME DO IT and come back for more exactly two weeks from now.

Episode 25 – Nothing Ever Changes

Episode 25 – Nothing Ever Changes (right click to download)

Punk and metal didn’t really saw eye to eye back in the day. Promiscuity is rarely the norm among subcultures in the beginning. Motörhead’s “Overkill” is essential if one desires to understand where Britain’s hardcore sound comes from, and NWOBHM in general owns a lot to punk, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that one group mingled a lot with the other. It says little about how scenes came and went and who belonged where.

Then came bands like Hellhammer with their primitive lo-fi black & roll/metal punk (which, truth be told, a lot of metal people hated in the 80s) and Amebix, who united the bridge separating metal and punk. Things are not this linear (they rarely are), but hopefully you get the picture.

Nowadays punks, metalheads, crusties, hard rockers, ravers and the bunch all socialize with one another. And that’s a good thing. As a result there are underground hardcore punks playing lead guitar solos more commonly associated with psychedelic (downright hippie!) rock, and headbangers with a knack for the electronic. It’s a brave new world.

This episode is once again for all you open-minded metal people. Enjoy the noise.

Episode 24 – Full Throttle (right click to download)

We can’t stand for painless, tamed, sugary or trouble-free music for much too long, so here we are, back with a stronger drive than ever – just as promised. This one is mostly Death and Black and will sound like a rusty metal amalgam crushing on a thick flesh wall. DEATH IS FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF SOUND! Only counts if your ears bleed!

We will back on Friday the 13th, no less! SUPPORT SATAN MADE ME DO IT: SPREAD THE DISEASE!

Episode 23 – Looks That Kill

Episode 23 – Looks That Kill (right click to download)

We’ve been pushing the most brutal and dark stuff lately and we’re really proud of our last couple outings, but for this episode we got carried away into something a bit more carefree. To the point where we have doom, punkish stuff, power metal, hard rock, blues and glam all mixed up, with handclaps and cowbell on top for good measure. Yep, it’s a mess. And we don’t care. We’re on party mode here. Take it and use it on your boring car trips or to help you break awkward silences and engage in social intercourse at parties. Like “Hey, did you hear about that tranny song by Scorpions? That was pretty crazy”. 100% guaranteed social skills improvement! Just PLAY IT LOUD!

We’ll be back with our usual fare of violence and destruction on January 30th.

Episode 22 – The Slayer

Episode 22 – The Slayer (right click to download)

To hell with 2015! The 80s are what it’s all about and this is our ultimate love letter to all you deathrash maniacs. The worship begins with the very cover picture. It’s a snap from 1982’s horror nasty “The Slayer”, the movie that inspired Jon Kristiansen to name the greatest underground metal fanzine of all time Slayer Mag.

This one goes out to him.

We wanted to start the New Year in style with the rawest and most brutal sounds we could possibly unearth. To our knowledge there’s nothing quite like 84-87 metal so we summoned your total death right from that most unholy period. For the most part. There’s a lot of demo quality stuff here and if you don’t like that you can just FOAD.

SATAN MADE ME DO IT wishes all you open minded thrashers a damn good year. We can only hope to contribute some of that good through our continued assaults. Do play it loud. It’s not just a catchphrase, you know? It’s common sense.

Episode 21 – From Out Of The Swamp

Episode 21 – From Out Of The Swamp (right click to download)

This one is the most 90s black metal episode we’ve done so far, but in truth there really isn’t that much black metal in it. Well, ok, there’s plenty of it, but maybe not in the way you expect? You’ll be the judge and we’ll be the case, how ‘bout that? All we can say is that it came out naturally, and that is a good thing.

Nature and ambience are the two main keywords here, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that this is a rhythm-free episode. Best heard during night-time this one. Keep your beverage of choice at hand for the best results.

And PLAY IT LOUD goddammit! Don’t be afraid to feel like crap while listening to this. It can be devastating at times, but you’ll feel hellagood by the end of it all.

Episode 20 – Don’t Deliver Us From Evil

Episode 20 – Don’t Deliver Us From Evil (right click to download)

It all comes down to a matter of temperature, doesn’t it? In the last episode we ventured through a different kind of metal, colder and machinelike in nature. It was tremendous. But this time, as the leaves start dying and the rain pours outside, we feel the need to return to a warmer and more organic brand of metal, the kind of metal that makes you feel fuzzy inside. Or maybe it’s the rum talking. For that purpose, nothing better than going back to the roots. This one is mainly NWOBHM and early doom inspired.

So fall down to your knees and beg:

Our Father in hell,
Damned be your name.
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done,
On earth, as it is in hell.
And lead us into temptation,
And never deliver us from evil.

PRAY IT LOUD!

Episode 19 – Metal On Metal

Episode 19 – Metal On Metal (right click to download)

There’s basically no Metal on this episode.

There, we said it. There’s even a little clubbing thing going around. EBM stuff. Noise rock. Yeah, we can almost hear you: these guys are selling out! What about the “no plastic, no triggers” statement stuff? Yeah, we’re selling out. We don’t have anything to sell, or anyone to sell it to, but nevertheless we’re selling it. Because this is the way of the new world we’re living in, and selling out is the new keeping it real. And you will buy it.

You may be shocked. And you should be. Because this little baby is a real monster. The way we did it was simple. We were flying to Madrid, listening to “Metal on Metal”. Not the Anvil song. The one by Kraftwerk. Boring flight, nothing to do… And we wondered: what would happen if we started the next episode with this great song?

That’s how this is gonna roll. Kraftwerk will start playing within your ears. It will sound strange and perverted. And then something fucked up and evil will happen. And then… you’re just going to have to listen to it, won’t you? We can just promise you: in the end, everything will make sense, and you will just hit replay.

SELL IT LOUD!

Episode 18 – Tales Of The Macabre

Episode 18 – Tales Of The Macabre (right click to download)

We’ve never done a thrash heavy SATAN MADE ME DO IT episode, believe it or not. It’s fucking crazy now that we think about it, since it’s well documented how thrash is metal’s core genre. Sure, there’s plenty of it in most of our episodes, but looking back at it we still feel we lack a more thrash oriented 45 minute tracklist. That has to do with the fact that we like to keep things freestyle, but also with our special knack for black and death flavors.

An amateur’s mistake, we’re afraid to say, but one we promptly fix with this TALES OF THE MACABRE episode (a reference to the Slaughter track of course). STILL! This is us. There’s some other stuff thrown in there for good measure. Some death, some heavy. It’s all good fun.

We tried to be as less obvious as possible while still throwing a bone or four your way just so it’s not all name dropping.

Your duty, as always, is to PLAY IT LOUD! The rest will naturally fall into place. SHOW NO MERCY!
