Satan Made Me Do It #35 [+tracklist]

Six years getting maniacs on their knees. We don’t much keep track of notable dates, so it was surprising when mid-recording we realized it would soon would have been six years since we published our first episode. It’s still online, as all the others we figure, in case you’re in the mood for a history lesson (pretty great slash of freestyle madness if you ask us): https://satanmademedoit.org/2014/03/03/episode1/

The mission has remained the same throughout and that’s very comforting. Seems you can’t place your trust on many things these days, but, hey, you can always count on your friendly Satan Made Me Do It No Good Doers to deliver a metal show you can tell your family about. No fake news here, oh no sir. We’re still the alt-WRONG, the pain the butt, the shit music deniers.

This one: yeah, it’s pretty good! A little live affair in London before Nuno had to carry his corpse to the airport. Nelson stayed put and drenched himself in fancy whiskies like the proper metal soldier he is. All in all, a pretty non-metal hour and 18 something minutes. Except for the all the black, thrash and crossover nonsense. Fuck, you know us by now; we like to get a lot of shit in.

Episode 52 – Out Of The Basement

We guess you all know we’ve been doing a monthly show for Radio Quântica. Well, our initial plan was to continue with our 45 minute episodes. We thought it would be no big deal. Plenty of music out there, no talk needed. We’ve done 51 of those. And we absolutely enjoy them. The flow, the mood, it’s a completely different beast. Well, the fact is when all is said and done, we just don’t have enough time to keep doing it on a regular basis. So each one is feels more like a “special”.

This is episode 52. It’s basically a collection of some of the songs we’ve been putting off, waiting for a good opportunity to play them on the radio show. Well, after a while they become like one of those tasks on your “to do” list that lie at the bottom of the stack and never get done. We wanted to do them justice. Get them out of the basement. So take this episode as some sort of compilation of B-sides from our main show at Rádio Quântica.

Episode 51 – The Forest Is Madness

It’s been a long time since we produced a so called “regular” 45-minute episode for SATAN MADE ME DO IT. We guess our Rádio Quântica show used up more of our time than we anticipated or cared to acknowledge. It’s a two hour show and there’s only so much good music out there that we wanna share. Also, we have a lot of fun with it, especially with how things are shaping up – new studio, live show, guests – so we guess our needs are pretty much satisfied. Or are they? The thing is, a “talk” show will never be able to yield the kind of feeling we get from a contained 45-minute mix – no talk, just the feeling of the journey. We wanted to be able to go back to that, so here you go: a complete new 45-minute episode for you. Freakish as hell too, alternating between slow and fast paced, between aggressive death and black metal and atmospheric electronic and soundtrack music. This is one for the ages.

For number 50 we went for both the obvious and the obscure. After all, we got big reasons to celebrate. Might as well invite as many as we can to the party. And guess what, even Thailand got in!

We go through a whole bunch of stuff to keep the fire going: heavy, proto-heavy, thrash, doom, funk (!), a bit of space rock too. Thing is, It’s not yet time to blow the candles. There’s plenty more ravaging left in us.

Sometimes things just don’t go as expected. It happens. Take this show, for instance. We started with a nice punk track, then proceeded with metal, of course, of the grindcore/death metal kind. Underground stuff. When SUDDENLY things went batshit and we ended up with a pile up of hardcore, bottom-of-the-pit demos whose existence most people would never know of. Good news: it’s all cool stuff. Bad news: if you like your metal nice and polished, FORGET THAT. This beast of an episode will put your cvltness to the test. Proceed with caution.

We weren’t joking. The last episode we did for Radio Quântica got real nasty. We were in a pissed off mood and didn’t feel like taking things nice and easy. We lead a happier life now, thank goodness, and that is reflected on this month’s 45-minute episode.  You know when Donald Trump said his net worth fluctuated according to his feelings? It’s similar. Except that Donald Trump is a total fucking douchebag and we are actually pretty cool.

If there’s a theme at play here we can’t really tell you what it is. What we can say is that it feels good. Our ears are happy; our necks are sore. Just don’t dance. You’ll anger Tom.

Man, oh man. What a rough labor. This episode should have been released this past Friday, but one of us was just sorta melting and oozing away thanks to food poisoning. It’s a big cause of death in India, we were told. Anyway, you can already imagine why this month’s episode is called Hot Mess… Haha enjoy that mental image.

Of course the original intention was a very different one. That’s why there’s a Lemmy tattoo on the cover there. One of us was graced with it shortly after his passing.

We are just gonna let the music speak for itself. There’s no need to, yet again, enunciate Lemmy’s merits and contributions.
