High, Low and In Between #4 – Mutilated (FRA) | Psychodeath Lunatics, 1988

[We are Gimme Radio regulars now. Proper main-event attractions. But there is no satisfying our lust for all things joyfully decadent in heavy music. Contain the beast then. That’s all we’re doing here really.

Welcome to another music review. Number four! Our fourth show on Gimme Radio is also just around the corner, so let this entertain you and allow you to become a formidable human of unquenchable good taste.

We go for old and new releases, hi-fi, lo-fi and everything in between and the only rule is that it’s got to be mental METAL!]

Satan Made Me Do It joins the ranks of Gimme Radio!

Episode 51 – The Forest Is Madness

It’s been a long time since we produced a so called “regular” 45-minute episode for SATAN MADE ME DO IT. We guess our Rádio Quântica show used up more of our time than we anticipated or cared to acknowledge. It’s a two hour show and there’s only so much good music out there that we wanna share. Also, we have a lot of fun with it, especially with how things are shaping up – new studio, live show, guests – so we guess our needs are pretty much satisfied. Or are they? The thing is, a “talk” show will never be able to yield the kind of feeling we get from a contained 45-minute mix – no talk, just the feeling of the journey. We wanted to be able to go back to that, so here you go: a complete new 45-minute episode for you. Freakish as hell too, alternating between slow and fast paced, between aggressive death and black metal and atmospheric electronic and soundtrack music. This is one for the ages.

Rádio Quântica – Satan Made Me Do It #12 [+tracklist]

Bad boys, good boys… they all look the same with a belly full of bagaço.

Watch us descend into the unholiest ballrooms of evil after many-a-trips to Czech Republic, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Canada, Brazil… we took one hard pounding on this show and our heads are still spinning.

Good news though: you can get pounded yourself! Care to join us?

Episode 47 – Handful of Fire

Episode 47 – Handful of Fire (right click to download)

We weren’t joking. The last episode we did for Radio Quântica got real nasty. We were in a pissed off mood and didn’t feel like taking things nice and easy. We lead a happier life now, thank goodness, and that is reflected on this month’s 45-minute episode.  You know when Donald Trump said his net worth fluctuated according to his feelings? It’s similar. Except that Donald Trump is a total fucking douchebag and we are actually pretty cool.

If there’s a theme at play here we can’t really tell you what it is. What we can say is that it feels good. Our ears are happy; our necks are sore. Just don’t dance. You’ll anger Tom.

Episode 42 – Legion of Horribles

Episode 42 – Legion of Horribles (right click to download)

The cruelest acts can rarely be put into words. They must be left to the realms of imagination. That’s where fear comes from too. No physical manifestation of horror can ever and will ever top our ability to create empires of the gruesome. Those who say fact trumps fiction, i.e. imagination, have never really tried hard enough. After all, the kingdoms of metaphysics are far less restrictive.

Today’s episode is an attempt to spark your creativity. We made it like a drug. To hook you is the entire point. And once you’re addicted there’s no escaping it. No morals to resort to, no time to go back, no place to hide. Your mind becomes your hell; your ideas, Satan himself.

Make the best of them.

Episode 37 – Doomed Planet

Episode 37 – Doomed Planet (right click to download)

This one is a bit two sided. Yin and yang, light and shadow shit. Half black/thrash, half power/speed, apparently unable to get along, but in the end they came out as BFFs . Nothing planned, mind. It’s just we’ve been thinking about our next deejaying gig at VAGOS OPEN AIR festival – three nights, three different sets – and we’ll probably do something along these lines. Probably. Best way to find out: be there!

Episode 35 – Kingdom of Darkness

Episode 35 – Kingdom of Darkness (right click to download)

If Sauron had won this would be his go-to soundtrack. We can already picture the orcs dancing and subsequently bashing each other in the head to the sound of this fine selection of tunes. See, we don’t believe Middle Earth would be much into folk if the armies of Mordor won the war. We think a careful mixture of thrash, death and black would be much more successful.

Of course, if Sauron did win we would all be dead, or worse. But that’s another story.

We’re dedicating this one to the memory of Christopher Lee.

Episode 33 – Great Demon God

Episode 33 – Great Demon God (right click to download)

There are a lot of special things about vinyl (and cassettes!). One of the most exceptional ones was (is?) the fact that it very usually influenced how the albums were actually put together. Burzum is one of the metal bands that, to our knowledge, put the format to better use in the early 90s, resorting frequently to electronic pieces inspired by Klaus Schulze and the like to play around with the listener’s expectations. How the first side ended and the second began was actually a factor carefully considered by many acts. That effect is, of course, lost with CDs and digital music.

This episode too feels like it has two sides. The first half of the episode is fundamentally different from the second one and yet there are many similarities that can be established. The most prevalent one is that every track chosen was written and performed by bands from Japan.

The title “Great Demon God” and episode picture both reference the Japanese kaijū Daimajin.

Episode 29 – Übertragic Deathvastation

Episode 29 – Übertragic Deathvastation (right click to download)

What a weird, weird episode.

It is, excuse us, a damn fine one. But still. And it all starts with the title. Have we ever been more over the top? Doubtfully – and we were the ones coming up with an episode called “Horror Maximus”! But say it out loud: Übertragic Deathvastation. Ahhhh it just rolls off the tongue in glorious blasphemic anger (another great title now that we think of it). So what’s this about anyway? Hell, we don’t know. Those first 7 minutes are GRIM. Then it gets brutal, black&rockin, finally becoming… goofy. Does this make ANY sense? No, and that’s why it has to work.

Loud or go away.
