High, Low and In Between #4 – Mutilated (FRA) | Psychodeath Lunatics, 1988

[We are Gimme Radio regulars now. Proper main-event attractions. But there is no satisfying our lust for all things joyfully decadent in heavy music. Contain the beast then. That’s all we’re doing here really.

Welcome to another music review. Number four! Our fourth show on Gimme Radio is also just around the corner, so let this entertain you and allow you to become a formidable human of unquenchable good taste.

We go for old and new releases, hi-fi, lo-fi and everything in between and the only rule is that it’s got to be mental METAL!]

Episode 53 – Veneno Carrascão

It hasn’t been easy lately. Two whole months have gone by since our last apparition. We’re like a cheap bottle of red wine left open and slowly going bad. Motherfucker.

It’s ok, it’s ok. Things are looking better now. And although you have to wait a bit more for our next two-hour-long Radio Quântica episode, we’re making sure you have some company for the coming weeks. It’s not exactly the friendliest bed in town, but maybe you’ll like it.

Let go. Taste the poison.

Rádio Quântica – Satan Made Me Do It #20 [+tracklist]

Stress just doesn’t get to us. This show happened mere days before our dj set at Santa Maria Summer Fest, in Beja, but we came prepared to deliver to goods on both fronts. On this episode, hour UNO kicked so much ass that it interfered with the very cables on the studio in Radio Quântica. Great new Mefisto track, Power Trip, Arkona, Cruel Force, just *UGH!*

It got so maddening there for a second that the damn equipment started frying our selection by the end of hour two… Sorry about that!

Metal will be the end of us and till the end we’ll proclaim: ‘tis but a scratch!

Episode 45 – Fitzcarraldo

Episode 45 – Fitzcarraldo (right click to download)

It’s a DJ’s cliché to say your set sounds like a “journey”, but fuck it, that’s exactly what SATAN MADE ME DO IT tries to achieve a lot of times. This episode is, we think, a fine example. It starts really slow, moody and easy, then building up, song after song, to a level of intensity that will reach its peak in the end and hopefully leave you feeling challenged. Dont’ take it too seriously, though.
We came up with this “climbing progression” when thinking about “Fitzcarraldo”, Werner Herzog’s movie from 1982 where the mad German director carried a 300 ton steamship over a hill in the Amazon. The movie production was almost “Apocalypse Now” stuff of legend. Go watch it.

Episode 35 – Kingdom of Darkness

If Sauron had won this would be his go-to soundtrack. We can already picture the orcs dancing and subsequently bashing each other in the head to the sound of this fine selection of tunes. See, we don’t believe Middle Earth would be much into folk if the armies of Mordor won the war. We think a careful mixture of thrash, death and black would be much more successful.

Of course, if Sauron did win we would all be dead, or worse. But that’s another story.

We’re dedicating this one to the memory of Christopher Lee.

Episode 1 – Satan Made Me Do It

Episode 1 – Satan Made Me Do It (right click to download)

The first Satan Made Me Do It podcast is, in many ways, a statement; a declaration of war, if you will, and we’re taking no prisoners. Why should you care? Well, that depends on which side you’re on. You definitely won’t find much sympathy here if you care about any kind of nu-metal outfit, triggered drums, kiddie black metal, modern pop-ish sound and whatnot. We are, after all, very picky about how metal should sound. And fortunately we are not alone. The bands featured on this show prove exactly that.

Lend us your brains for the next 45 minutes. It will do wonders for your disposition. It will certainly help you coping with a shitty 9-to-5 job or dull commuting journeys. And, who knows, you might even find your new favorite band in the process. Sounds good? Yeah? Well, wait ‘till you fucking hear it!

No genre restrictions on this one. We go through thrash, black, death, crust, metal-punk… We like to keep it freestyle at any rate, but can’t promise we’ll always have such “varied” shows. Also, if you like a song, support the band by every means necessary. Buy their stuff, like them on Facebook, follow them on BandCamp and spread the message! Hell is all but lost if the bands making it happen are broke.

PLAY IT LOUD! Satan Made Me Do It highly recommends every listener to enjoy the show with a pair of decent headphones. High volume levels are equally advisable. *ANTI-WHITE EARBUDS BRIGADE*

We’ll be back every other Tuesday from now on. Tell your friends.
