Episode 43 – Bad Guys Special

Episode 43 – Bad Guy Special (right click to download)

Hello friends! Nice of you to join us. How ya feelin’?

Allright, the time has come to shake things up a bit. We’ve brought some company for today’s episode: Bad Guys. Not just any bad guys. The Bad Guys, from London, England. They will pay us a visit real soon. Like, next month soon. November 20th. This little page will tell you all about it.

Now, we may be bastards, but we are a grateful bunch of bastards. Ask and you shall receive, they said. Thus this episode came to be.

Bad Guys sent us 4 tracks (one for each bad dude) from bands that influenced their sound in one way or another. They also sent us some commentary. It’s all audio and integrated on the episode. You’ve heard of radio? It’s like that, only cooler cause we can do whatever the fuck we want. And we did.

So besides having these modern day warriors choose some songs, we got some tracks of our own in there. Shit got wild. Wild west wild. Fuckin town sheriff would run for his dear ol’life if such a podcast would come charging in.

Wait, what’s that in the distance?

Hide the children. This ain’t a Halloween Special. It’s a Bad Guys Special. Fuck you!

Episode 40 – Waltz for Crows (right click to download)

There sure ain’t a lot of metal this time around, but if you’re still here you don’t really care. And we salute you for that.

40 episodes. It has been 40 episodes. Should we expect some sort of midlife crisis? All we know is that we ain’t stopping anytime soon, so better get used to us sticking around. We are the vulture and the coyote. The crow. We’ll keep feeding even after others are gone.

Dance away.

Episode 25 – Nothing Ever Changes

Episode 25 – Nothing Ever Changes (right click to download)

Punk and metal didn’t really saw eye to eye back in the day. Promiscuity is rarely the norm among subcultures in the beginning. Motörhead’s “Overkill” is essential if one desires to understand where Britain’s hardcore sound comes from, and NWOBHM in general owns a lot to punk, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that one group mingled a lot with the other. It says little about how scenes came and went and who belonged where.

Then came bands like Hellhammer with their primitive lo-fi black & roll/metal punk (which, truth be told, a lot of metal people hated in the 80s) and Amebix, who united the bridge separating metal and punk. Things are not this linear (they rarely are), but hopefully you get the picture.

Nowadays punks, metalheads, crusties, hard rockers, ravers and the bunch all socialize with one another. And that’s a good thing. As a result there are underground hardcore punks playing lead guitar solos more commonly associated with psychedelic (downright hippie!) rock, and headbangers with a knack for the electronic. It’s a brave new world.

This episode is once again for all you open-minded metal people. Enjoy the noise.

Episode 10 – Darker than the Swoon of Sin

Episode 10 – Darker than the Swoon of Sin (right click to download)

“Imagine some foul and putrid corpse that has lain rotting and decomposing in the grave, a jelly-like mass of liquid corruption. Imagine such a corpse a prey to flames, devoured by the fire of burning brimstone and giving off dense choking fumes of nauseous loathsome decomposition. And then imagine this sickening stench, multiplied a millionfold and a millionfold again from the millions upon millions of fetid carcasses massed together in the reeking darkness, a huge and rotting human fungus. Imagine all this, and you will have some idea of the horror of the stench of hell”.*

This episode has the stench of rotting human fungus and is dedicated to James Joyce who, we know for a fact, was the biggest Slayer fan.

PLAY IT LOUD! We’ll be back with more sonic corruption on July 22nd.

Episode 9 – Worm Eaters

Episode 9 – Worm Eaters (right click to download)

We came to this episode with no preconceived idea or particular direction discussed at the outset – except for what the first track would be. The result, we like to think, feels very much like a live set, probably more so than any other episode so far (by the way, feel free to hire us to DJ at your birthday party or wedding, christening and bar mitzvah ceremonies). Which means there is a lot of free flowing raw energy and a general sense of in-your-face metal. You can almost smell the stench of sweat and beer invading your nostrils. This is a GOOD thing! A bit more thrashy too this one. So move away the furniture at home and prepare to SLAM IT LOUD (no helicoptering  or windmilling or whatever stupid kids are doing these days)!

We’ll be back with a vengeance on July 8th. Go watch your “Death Wish” DVDs and be prepared.

Episode 8: It’s All Gone Weird

Episode 8 – It’s All Gone Weird (right click to download)

“Like howling dogs I sing.” We went ahead and spoke to darkness to conjure up this one. That doesn’t mean this is a particularly crushing SATAN MADE ME DO IT episode; it’s just the weirdest sounding one we ever did. It was a conscious decision. And honestly, we are in love with the end result.

This episode is as freestyle as it gets. There’s black metal, industrial, hardcore, grind and old stuff that is *still* ahead of time. You’re not afraid of a little experimentation, are you? We don’t want this relationship to become stale…

PLAY IT LOUD! Kick and scream. Break a dish or two if you have to. This is only the beginning.

Episode 7 – Demon Lover

Episode 7 – Demon Lover (right click to download)

An aching heart. Pretty much everyone knows the feel, but when it strikes us harder it’s as if nobody but us really knows just how it feels. Love truly is a funny thing. It can fill you with butterflies, itch where it tickles the most and blind you silly. And it can beat you to your knees and keep you down for as long as you allow it. This Satan Made Me Do It episode takes you on that special trip where emotions run wild and reason sits on the bench.

There’s something for everybody: a little hope, a little despair, a little peace and a little hell. Alas, when the demon knocks at your door there’s no knowing what’s in store for you.

Listen to this one as one should love: LOUD! We’ll be back, guns blazing, on June 10th.

Episode 2 – The Black Dog Runs At Night

Episode 2 – The Black Dog Runs At Night (right click to download)

This is where we start to separate the men (and girls with great attitude) from the boys. The first episode was hard but this one is plain evil. Don’t get fooled by the ground zero, doomy beginning. It will weigh like a planet on your shoulders, sure, but what follows is nothing less than demonic. We mean, really scary. Maybe you’ll want to leave the lights on for this one.

We’re proud of it, but we’ll only ask you two things. Play it LOUD. And share it with your friends, especially the gutless ones.

See you on March 31st for more. Watch your backs.

Episode 1 – Satan Made Me Do It

Episode 1 – Satan Made Me Do It (right click to download)

The first Satan Made Me Do It podcast is, in many ways, a statement; a declaration of war, if you will, and we’re taking no prisoners. Why should you care? Well, that depends on which side you’re on. You definitely won’t find much sympathy here if you care about any kind of nu-metal outfit, triggered drums, kiddie black metal, modern pop-ish sound and whatnot. We are, after all, very picky about how metal should sound. And fortunately we are not alone. The bands featured on this show prove exactly that.

Lend us your brains for the next 45 minutes. It will do wonders for your disposition. It will certainly help you coping with a shitty 9-to-5 job or dull commuting journeys. And, who knows, you might even find your new favorite band in the process. Sounds good? Yeah? Well, wait ‘till you fucking hear it!

No genre restrictions on this one. We go through thrash, black, death, crust, metal-punk… We like to keep it freestyle at any rate, but can’t promise we’ll always have such “varied” shows. Also, if you like a song, support the band by every means necessary. Buy their stuff, like them on Facebook, follow them on BandCamp and spread the message! Hell is all but lost if the bands making it happen are broke.

PLAY IT LOUD! Satan Made Me Do It highly recommends every listener to enjoy the show with a pair of decent headphones. High volume levels are equally advisable. *ANTI-WHITE EARBUDS BRIGADE*

We’ll be back every other Tuesday from now on. Tell your friends.
