There sure ain’t a lot of metal this time around, but if you’re still here you don’t really care. And we salute you for that.

40 episodes. It has been 40 episodes. Should we expect some sort of midlife crisis? All we know is that we ain’t stopping anytime soon, so better get used to us sticking around. We are the vulture and the coyote. The crow. We’ll keep feeding even after others are gone.

Dance away.

Episode 40 – Waltz for Crows

This one is not for the dead – it’s for the dying. Can you imagine? Being wounded or sick and seeing in the distance the dance of scavengers, praying that your carcass is soft enough so that they themselves can inflict the death blow? What glorious sight! A waltz for crows follows. Welcome to hell.

20+ minutes of Klaus Schulze may seem like cheating, but does it get any better than this? Close the blinds, lock the door, grab the nearest alcoholic beverage and let it sink. Such a beautiful fusion of the organic and the mechanic. Flawless.

Next is Part 1, unleashing the darkest brand of 80s UK anarcho-punk. The entire atmosphere evokes death. How they accomplish this at the time is anybody’s guess. Now here’s something new-ish (2003). Ciril. The Rudimentary Peni is strong with this one (down to the Nick Blinko like cover work), which is why it’s worth sharing. Great (and defunct) post-2000 deathrock/hardcore act. Once again, enjoy the grimness.

We still have to listen to Tau Cross’s first LP more closely, and while metal supergroups are usually something to be very cautions with, the results here are surprisingly good. The spirit of Amebix is both palpable and appreciated.

We bid you goodbye and ‘till the next time with Nocturno Culto’s own Gift of Gods. We kept it mid-paced all the way this time. Quite an achievement.
