We have done it all and then some. It has been years, damn it! So for this month’s show we reminisce about old times the only way we know… WITH A VENGEANCE !! All the while, trying and successfully sabotaging the other’s selection. Make no mistake: you will have fun, friends. We are just concerned about ourselves here. Help?
It’s not often we fill a show with the less menacing and risky flavors of metal, but this is January – the beginning of what we hope will be a pretty good year. At any rate, it’s hard to imagine this one ranking lower than the last…
We wanted to set the mood for what’s to come with a set of songs that want you to move; not destroy. Indeed, that want you to throw your hands up in the air in unmatched enthusiasm. Make it a kind of rain dance too and wish for a fantastic 2018. We sure had fun doing this one. That’s SOMETHING!
If you absolutely have to bleed, do it in style. CROM!!
This isn’t the way the world ends, but it sure was a banging way to wrap up 2017. Fellow troublemakers SYSTEMIK VIØLENCE shook us with an ungraceful selection of songs and topics of discussion, spewing poison left and right in glorious – and equally graceless – Portuguese. They got their first album out and beg you: if you’re to buy it, buy it from them. They could use the cash and, let’s face it, a LP called “Satanarkist Attack” deserves your hard-earned capitalist money https://systemikviolence.bandcamp.com/album/satanarkist-attack
That’s hour two. Hour one sees us not knowing what to expect from our guests and playing music while hoping for the best. All in all, ‘twas dope.
We are now balls deep in our second anniversary of Radio Quântica shows. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to US!! From this high up we gotta say: it’s one wondrous sight to behold. Also, we basically just came from a live set in Portugal’s most prestigious nightclub for music discovery, Lux Frágil. Some people stuck with us ‘till the very end, bless them, even as we obliterated both hell and high water with the likes of Demdike Stare, fuckin’ SLAUGHTER and Leviathan.
Things started as rocky as a mountain on this show thanks be to all things digital catching us by surprise, but it didn’t take much for a COMEBACK FOR THE AGES. Again, think Rocky.
ANGEL WITCH aplenty, goth (to live is to die, damn it!), BLACK METAL from heck, great covers and love letters, hentai (What? No.), METAL MANS and a general disinterest for all things gentle. HARSH SATANIC REALITIES UNEARTHED!!
Out of the frying pan and into the fire. But in a really good and really metal and kickass kinda way! BLASPHEMER aka RUNE ERIKSEN was in town (he’s been living in Portugal for a while now actually…) and down to blast both true and the false with an exquisite set of songs. Metal, prog, rock, the works.
One of the axeman of Aura Noir and founding member of Earth Electric (ex-Mayhem guitarist too, of course) classes up the show with stories from the past and the present, from the good, bad and the ugly, you’ll love it!
Things have been busted pretty much ever since the beginning, but they seem to be getting even crazier lately. Shit’s fucked, man! You know what they say about being out of touch when living in a cave or whatever? That is starting to sound more appealing by the hour.
This show is kind of a reflection of the present state of things: it shows little regard for the good of humankind. Noisy, raunchy and kaput; fast, slow and everything in between. The only thing that’s different is this: It’s fun when WE do it-sorry… when SATAN makes us do it…
Listen NOW and head straight back to living under a rock later.
You might as well go straight to the second hour. What our guest for this show accomplishes is nothing short of amazing: a black/death metal DJ set. An actual live extreme metal DJ set fresh and invigorating in a way we haven’t listened before.
This is what SATAN MADE ME DO IT is all about. We invited this confrontational visual artist from the Azores, MÁRCIO MATOS, mostly known in the Portuguese underground clubbing for being a founder and visual image creator for Príncipe Discos, hands down the most vital and refreshing dance music label in the country; and the guy behind the counter at Flur, this influential record shop in Lisbon. He’s also heading his own experimental music label, Noisendo (for which he keeps trying to hire black metal acts) and is a revered DJ playing at the clubs that matter.
What people don’t know is that, while coming from electronics and dance music, Márcio Matos is a profound adept of all things black and death metal. The rawest and most aggressive the better. That fucking shows, because he brings his taste and DJ skills and create this mind-blowing hour of screwed up music.
This all makes it even more sorrowful and frankly pitiful that the vast majority of metalheads can’t appreciate listening to metal outside of concerts (we’ll give you that, nothing beats a metal live show) or radio and dj playlists. They can’t get around their heads that maybe listening to a DJ playing metal just to find out about new stuff or listening to the same stuff in a different way is actually a good thing. Well, mates, we can’t help you except by keep doing this.
